Naughton appointment expected to end Dublin hurling crisis

Dublin Under-21 manager Tommy Naughton has been named as the Dublin Senior Hurling manager for the duration of the 2005 championship following a meeting at Parnell Park yesterday evening.

The Dublin County Committee voted unanimously for the appointment with Andy Cunningham and Tommy Ryan as selectors.

The management team will meet the current squad of players at a Parnell Park training session on Friday night before naming their panel on Saturday.

The players had been refusing to train or fulfil match fixtures under an interim management team headed by county chairman John Bailey.

Naughton’s appointment is expected to end the current crisis.
