Brendan Jer doubt for Cork game

Cork star Brendan Jer O’Sullivan is set to miss out on Sunday’s Munster SFC semi-final clash against Clare because of a back injury.

The Adrigole man is believed to have picked up the injury in training.

“It a disc problem and he is struggling with it at the moment,” said Cork selector John Corcoran.

In O’Sullivan’s absence, Cork’s new look attack is likely to see three players make their championship debut in Ennis, with James Masters, John Hayes and Fintan Gould all primed to start.

The Cork team will be named tonight, with team captain Sean Levis likely to start at full-back. Nicholas Murphy may also be given a role in the half-forward line as Graham Canty returns to midfield.

After impressive challenge game wins over Mayo and Galway in recent weeks, confidence is high.

“The attitude in the camp is excellent and we are very pleased with that.

“We scored 1-18 against Mayo and 2-15 against Galway, but at the end of the day they were only practice games and we would be foolish to be getting carried away on the back of those wins.”
