Westmeath may complain over Dolan incident
The Westmeath County Board is considering complaining to the Games Administration Committee over an off-the-ball incident that saw star forward Dessie Dolan requiring treatment during Sunday's Leinster SFC defeat to Kilare.
Dolan received a blow to the face in the incident, was sidelined for a time and required X-rays yesterday. The referee did not spot the incident and TV cameras did not pick it up.
"We have not discussed it officially yet but we are very disappointed that it happened," said Westmeath county board chairman Seamus Whelan.
"There was a lot of cynicism in Sunday’s game with the amount of off-the-ball stuff and incidents like slowing the game down and preventing quick frees. I was disappointed with that."
"Dessie Dolan was upset after the game and you would be hoping that he would get full protection because teams are often out to look after him. He doesn’t want special treatment - he just wants to kick a football."
