Red cards fatal for New York
New York 2-14 Antrim 2-20, Casement Park (After Extra-time)
The Big Apple proved hard to stomach for Dinny Cahill's Antrim last night as they had to rely on extra-time to pull clear of New York and book their place in the Ulster SHC final on June 5.
The 2004 Ulster winners claimed a dramatic semi-final win as Karl McKeegan grabbed their second goal in extra-time after the Exiles had been reduced to 12 men.
Former Tipperary senior Bonny Kennedy bagged 1-07 (4f) for New York, but was crucially dismissed three minutes into extra time for his second yellow card offence.
Antrim had taken the early advantage and led 1-12 to 0-12 going into the closing stages of normal time, but Kennedy waltzed through the Saffrons rearguard to net a climatic goal and send the tie into extra-time.
The late sendings-off of Conor Casserly, for two bookings, and Tim Cullen, for a straight red, damaged New York's hopes, after they led by a point at the close of the first period of extra-time.
Cahill's men, who had ten players on the scoresheet, set up a decider against either Down or Derry, as McKeegan's late blast added to Brian McFall's first half goal.
McFall also notched a two-point sideline score in normal time.
