Darragh Ryan out of Leinster championship

Former All Star full-back Darragh Ryan will play no part in Wexford's opening defence of their Leinster SHC crown.

Ryan is recovering well from a knee operation, and will line out for his club this weekend but has ruled himself out of the Leinster semi-final against Dublin or Laois due to his lack of match fitness.

The defender is also unsure as to whether he will play any part in the Slaneysiders' quest for championship honours.

He said: "My inter-county championship aspirations at the moment are zero…my fitness would be nowhere near the level to even contemplate playing in the final should the lads reach it."

Meanwhile, Wexford boss Seamus Murphy is also sweating on the fitness of Darren Stamp ahead of the June 12 clash with the winners of Dublin and Laois.

Stamp suffered a blow to his hand in a recent challenge game and will undergo a further X-ray once the swelling subsides.
