Kelly hospitalised after kidney blow
Meath attacker Niall Kelly was rushed to Navan hospital on Sunday night after taking a blow to the kidney during the day's National Football League Division Two final defeat to Monaghan at Croke Park.
Kelly was one of two players who was summoned to give a urine sample after the match, and Royal bosses have criticised the decision to test him after he took the knock to the kidneys.
Kelly was dehydrated and had to consume large amounts of water to complete the test.
Selector David Beggy said: "Niall shouldn't have been asked to do the test after taking a knock on the kidneys. He was there for hours afterwards and had to drink an enormous amount of water. He got sick drinking that much fluid and it's a situation the GAA will need to look at in the future."
Kelly was still ill on his return home on Sunday and had to be hospitalised.
The Dunshaughlin player will undergo a scan today to determine the extent of the injury.
