Carr recommended Val Daly to Roscommon

It has emerged Tommy Carr recommended Val Daly to succeed him as manager of the Roscommon football team.

Daly was yesterday confirmed as boss of the westerners following the departure on Monday night of Carr.

Daly will stay on for the remainder of the league and possibly the championship campaign.

County board chief Stephen Banahan said the board had parted on good terms with Carr, who "helped in convincing Val Daly he should stay with us as interim manager".

Daly has worked as forwards coach for Roscommon in recent months.
