Former Galway player and manager Val Daly looks set to be appointed Roscommon football boss following Tommy Carr's resignation.

And star forward attacker Frankie Dolan — who was dropped off the panel last month for a breach of discipline amid rumours of a disagreement with Carr - could be in line for a return to inter-county football under Daly.

Dolan said: "I would like to play county football again."

Daly is the favourite to take over the post, as he has been working as a forwards coach to the panel in recent months.

Outgoing manager Carr wouldn't be drawn on the controversy yesterday.

He said: "I don’t have anything to say, other than to wish the team well in the future."
