Limerick hurling manager Padjoe Whelahan blamed pressure for his decision to resign yesterday, while Pat Herbert has been tipped as the man to succeed the Offaly native.

Whelahan said he felt pressure in the wake of his side suffering defeats in their first two league games, when they went down heavily to Cork and were on the end of a Tipperary defeat last weekend.
