Cork boss Billy Morgan has retained just six of the players who started in last season's championship defeat by Fermanagh for Friday night's opening National League game at Páirc Ui Rinn against defending league and All-Ireland champions Kerry.

Cork boss Billy Morgan has retained just six of the players who started in last season's championship defeat by Fermanagh for Friday night's opening National League game at Páirc Ui Rinn against defending league and All-Ireland champions Kerry.

Defenders Sean O'Brien, Gary Murphy and Eoin Sexton, midfielders Miceál O'Sullivan and Graham Canty, centre-forward Ciaran O'Sullivan and the full-forward line of Colin Crowley, Colin Corkery and Alan Cronin have all been dropped for the match, which is live on television.

Netminder Kevin O'Dwyer, full-back Derek Kavanagh, centre-back Sean Levis, who captains the side, left wing-back Martin Cronin and centre-forward Conor McCarthy are the five who retain their places.

Niall Geary and Anthony Lynch begin at corner-back and Noel O'Leary is chosen at wing-back.

Nicholas Murphy partners Diarmuid Hurley at midfield and a number of new young players are named in attack.

Mallow's Cian O'Riordan and Carbery Rangers' Kevin MacMahon flank McCarthy in the half-forward line, while James Masters, Brendan Jer O'Sullivan and John Hayes are named in the full-forward line.

Colin Crowley, Graham Canty and Philip Clifford are ruled out through injury.
