TG4 may screen hurling version of Underdogs

TV station TG4 is to consider a hurling version of its existing reality television series, The Underdogs.

The Irish language station meets with production company Adare next week to discuss plans for the series, which has pitted football talents against county teams.

Adare director Brian Graham said: "Hurling is something we will look at."

However, TG4 head of sport Rónán Ó Coisdealbha warned: "The one concern with hurling is that it would not have the same catchment as football. But it is something we will discuss.

He added: "The programme has been a huge success. Audience-wise we had over 125,000 watch the match against the All-Ireland champions Kerry, while each of the 10 episodes was attracting audiences of 30-35,000, with a similar figure for the repeat showing."
