GAA task force to discuss new rule

The GAA's Football Rules Task Force will meet tonight to discuss the controversial new sin bin rule, but the Association has revealed that no decision regarding a change in the rules will be made.

The rules, currently being used in the provincial competitions (except the Dr McKenna Cup), have been criticised during their three-week existence.

Laois manager Mick O'Dwyer, one of the task force's seven members, became the latest critic as eight players were sent to the line for 10-minute spells during his side's victory over Kildare yesterday.

A GAA statement said no decision can be taken at tonight's meeting "in relation to alterations to the experiment which will require discussions with the Hurling Task Force and consideration by the Management Committee, who will meet at the end of next week".
