Photographic agency backs Cats' in image rights row
Ireland's oldest sports photographic agency has come out in support of the Kilkenny County Board over the controversy surrounding calendars featuring pictures of the Cats' senior and U21 teams.
Sportsfile has backed the GAA in their stance in the row over the unapproved calendars.
The Cats commissioned a new logo last year which is used on playing gear, meaning reproductions are not allowed without the county board's permission.
The original photos of the teams had the logo on the players' jerseys, but had been digitally removed from the calendar picture.
Sportsfile's Ray McManus said: "We strongly disagree with the unethical practice of altering or amending in any way the contents of sports photographs, whether that be a trademark or a logo of the GAA, county boards or sponsors."
