Laois defender Derek Conroy has been ruled out for the next month after picking up a knee injury during last weekend's O'Byrne Cup win over Offaly.

It was feared the former All-Ireland minor medal-winner would be out for longer, but a scan revealed the injury was not as serious as initially thought.

Conroy should be ready for a return for the opening round of the National Football League next month.

His colleague Ross Munnelly will be available for next Sunday's encounter with Kilkenny, after a scan revealed he had bruised ribs, but O'Moore boss Mick O’Dwyer will again be without the Portlaoise contingent.
