Galway hurlers stay away from medal ceremony

The Galway hurlers panel have been criticised after several of them stayed away from the function at which they were to collect their National League medals.

Most of the senior hurlers failed to show at the annual Galway Hurling Board dinner dance in Clarinbridge at the weekend.

County board officials were quick to point out that the hurling squad are being taken abroad next month at the expense of the board.

The squad will fly to South Africa for eight days in the sun at the end of January.
