Ballina favourites for Connacht football final

Ballina Stephenites go into today's Connacht club football final against Galway champions Killererin as strong favourites to come away with the title.

The Mayo champions can bank on the inter-county midfield of David Brady and Ronan McGarrity to strengthen their cause and bring a bit of pride back to the county in the wake of this year's disappointments in the All-Ireland senior and U21 finals.

However, Killererin possess the lethal skills of Padraig Joyce and he is not the only talented family member on the team.

His cousin Nicky scored 1-7 in the semi-final win over Leitrim's Annaduff, while Padraig's brother Tommy has also been instrumental in their run to the final.

However, 10 of Ballina's side got on the scoresheet in their trouncing of Roscommon Gaels in the semi-final.

The Galway champions face Ballina in the Mayo's side's backyard, and it may be too much of an ask for them to beat their hosts.

The game will be broadcast live on TG4.
