Mullins expected to be new Dub boss
The Dublin county board expects to appoint Brian Mullins as the Metropolitans' new football manager by next week.
Mullins is due to be unveiled as Tommy Lyons' successor on Monday. He was the only candidate interviewed for the post.
The county board has been criticised for not appointing someone sooner, but its wait is finally coming to an end.
However, the appointment will come too late for county star Darren Magee.
Magee departed for Australia yesterday, but in a swipe at the county board said he could have been persuaded to remain in Ireland if Dublin officials had appointed a manager sooner.
Magee has no plans to play for Dublin next year, and will also miss Kilmacud Crokes' Leinster club football semi-final against Portlaoise on Sunday.
He said: "There is no Dublin manager to ask me to stay or try to convince me. For such a high-profile position, someone should be appointed by now and that’s the county board's fault."
