Carlow boss Byrne rubbishes €1m investment report
Carlow chairman Eddie Byrne has rubbished reports that a consortium, led by a local hotelier, is to invest €1m in the county's football and hurling squads.
Mr Byrne told a meeting of the county board this week the figure is only a tenth of that sum.
Mr Byrne said: "I can't believe how this stuff gets into the media. The figure is €20,000 a year — it's still a nice figure, but that's all it is."
The consortium, headed by Michael Murphy, the MD of the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow, has stated they would make money available to promote both codes in the county.
