Ireland captain Padraig Joyce has lifted the Cormac McAnallen trophy following a 54-41 second test win at Croke Park, helping Pete McGrath's side claim a 2-0 victory in the International Rules series.

A first Irish victory since 2001 was founded upon a strong third quarter as Joyce, a goalscorer last Sunday, left-footed to Mal Michael's net on 49 minutes, after the bounce of Tadhg Kennelly's through ball had eluded the Aussie defenders.

Nathan Brown was once again the leading light for the visitors, chipping in with 21 points but it was not enough as Ireland added 13 overs and nine behinds to Joyce's sole goal.

Referees: M Collins (Ire) and S McBurney (Aus)
