Middle-man McGee thanked for efforts
The Offaly county board has thanked Eugene McGee for mediating in the dispute between the board and the Faithful footballers, who went on strike last month.
McGee’s was appointed to mediate and helped to resolve the strike.
Board chairman Tommy Byrne paid tribute to the former manager in a statement, saying he wanted to pay tribute to McGee for the "enormous contribution he made to bringing about a resolution to the impasse".
The footballers announced this week that their strike action is over, and the conditions agreed in the talks with McGee apply also to the county hurlers, including better training facilities and preparation.
