New York take win over Sligo

Former Westmeath star PJ Ward inspired New York to a shock 1-10 to 0-12 victory over Sligo in the FBD League away final at Gaelic Park last night.

The Kilbeggan club man scored 1-7 of the home side's total.

Sligo, with Paul Durcan and Eamonn O'Hara in temporary charge, only managed four points in the second half.
