PJ Ward led the way as New York’s expatriates beat Sligo in the FBD League ‘Away’ Final in the Bronx tonight.

New York, hammered by Mayo in May in Connacht SFC restored pride to GAA in the Big Apple as former Westmeath senior footballer Ward hit 1-7.

New York withstood a dominant Sligo in the first half to reach half time just three points down at 0-5 to 0-8 before Ward struck with a goal at the start of the second period and hit the final four of his team’s points to seal victory at Gaelic Park with two minutes to go.
