Cork club Erin’s Own have put their faith in clubman Cian O’Connor, who replaces the injured John Gardiner for the Rebels’ All-Ireland SHC semi-final against Wexford on Sunday.

“Everyone here is thrilled he has been given the chance in such a big game, because he deserves it,” said Erin’s Own official Martin Bowen told the Evening Echo.

“Cian has a great attitude, always works hard, is fully-committed and we always knew he had what it takes.

“He played for Cork at every grade on the way up.”

O’Connor was part of Cork’s All-Ireland winning minor team in 2001.

He made his senior debut in this year’s first-round game against Kerry.
