Morgan's men take on re-invigorated Banner boys
Billy Morgan's underachievers Cork take on a a re-invigorated Clare side at Cusack Park today, knowing the season is over for the losers.
The Banner men have a history of putting it up to Cork and the spirit in the camp is upbeat following a determined performance against Kerry in the Munster championship and a shock win over fancied Sligo in the first round of the qualifiers.
Three years ago Cork were lucky to beat Clare in Páirc Uí Chaoimh (2-11 to 1-10) and Cork were humbled the last time they played in Cusack Park seven years ago - when a last-ditch goal by Martin Daly earned the Banner men a famous victory.
Cork scoring talisman Colin Corkery, Brendan Jer O'Sullivan and and Nicholas Murphy return to the side for today's all-Munster clash.
Corkery and O'Sullivan were forced to sit out the Munster semi-final defeat to provincial champions Kerry due to suspension, while Murphy didn't start the game, but made a second-half appearance.
Corkery lines out at full-forward, with O'Sullivan to his left and Murphy chosen at midfield, in place of Ciaran O’Sullivan, Kevin O’Sullivan and Noel O’Leary respectively.
There are no places for star defender Anthony Lynch or Philip Clifford, as both failed to recover sufficiently from injury to make the starting 15.
Martin Cronin moves to left half-back, while Gary Murphy moves from there to the left corner and Graham Canty takes over at centre-back.
Diarmuid Hurley will partner Murphy at midfield.
Micheál Ó Croinin makes way for Corkery by moving to centre-forward and Conor McCarthy moves to his left.
Meanwhile, the Clare team shows one enforced change from that which defeated Sligo.
Stephen Hickey, who came on as a second-half substitute the last day, comes in at centre-forward for Colm Mullen, who has gone to the US.
