GPA slam 'abuse' of image rights

The Gaelic Players Association have reacted with anger to the use of Jerry O'Connor's image in an advertising campaign for a telecom company linked with the GAA.

Gaelic Telecom, the GAA's telecom partner, recently used an image of O'Connor playing on All-Ireland club final day with Newtownshandrum on the front of an information booklet.

The GPA owns the player's image right and stated that it is a 'blatant abuse' by the company.

A GPA statement read: "A company whose service the GAA have chosen to endorse have used a prominent player image in a promotional capacity, showing no regard for the player concerned."
