GAA: NHL Division 2 round-up
Despite defeating home side Kildare 2-16 to 0-19 at Newbridge, Down have lost top spot in the Allianz NHL Division 2A to Westmeath, as goals from John Shaw, Barry Kennedy and Andrew Mitchell helped them to a 3-14 to 0-9 thrashing of Roscommon in Mullingar.
In the only game in Division 2B, Mayo earned their first win of the season as they defeated Carlow on a score line of 3-13 to 0-7 in Ballina.
Ballyhaunis forward Keith Higgins and Westport colleague Stephen Broderick found the net in the first half, with Anthony Healy of the local Stephenites club getting their third goal.
