Ronan Sweeney’s second-half goal saw Kildare come from five points down to see off the Derry challenge 1-14 to 0-12 at Newbridge in Division 2B.

The Oak Leaf county looked set for a comfortable win as they sailed into the break 0-7 to 0-2 in front, but Sweeney’s goal allied to 0-6 from corner forward Padraig Brennan, the eventual man-of-the-match, turned the game around. Derry’s Geoffrey McGonigle also scored six points.
