Sligo came back from a poor start at Markievicz Park to beat Cavan 2-12 to 0-9 in Division 1B.

The Ulster men led 0-4 to 0-1 after eleven minutes, even though Sligo hit the first score of the game after just fifteen seconds through Dessie Sloyan.

Points from Sean Brady, Jason Reilly and a Gerald Pearson free handed Cavan their lead. Dermot McCabe’s point on 13 minutes saw four of the Cavan forwards on the scoreboard.

Crucially Paul Taylor struck home a 14th minute penalty to hand Sligo an advantage they failed to relinquish. A lengthy free from Taylor forty seconds from the end of the first half saw Sligo 1-4 to 0-5 in front at the break.

A second half goal from Mark Breheny and 0-2 from Brian Curran completed the Sligo win.
