Fermanagh 0-8 Mayo 1-7

Mayo made a solid start to their Division 1A campaign, relying on 1-2 from Damien Munnelly and further points from Austin O’Malley to edge Fermanagh 1-7 to 0-8 in Enniskillen.

The visitors held an early lead thanks to an Andy Moran point before Stephen Maguire pointed the first of his five points from a 16th minute placed ball. Munnelly struck midway through the half for his goal to earn John Maughan’s men a 1-2 to 0-3 half-time lead.

At that stage, Maguire had hit all of Fermanagh’s scores and he continued the trend in the second period, putting his side just a goal behind at 0-5 to 1-5 on 56 minutes. Both Ryan Keenan and James Sherry pointed, however, in the final five minutes to close out Mayo’s two-point win.
