Galway full-back Fahey to undergo knee op

Galway's influential full-back Richie Fahey is set for an operation on a cruciate knee problem that will rule him out of the upcoming National League campaign.

Fahey picked up the horror injury in a club game for Killanin last autumn leaving Galway boss John O'Mahony with a major problem at the back ahead of their NFL opener with Meath on February 1.

O'Mahony said: "We may decide to tinker with the defence but life must go on and the main thing for Richie is that he has the operation over him and he's on the mend."
