Castlewellan on course to retain club award
Progressive Down outfit Castlewellan are on course to retain their AIB GAA Club of the Year title having been once again voted the cream of the Mourne County.
Last year's champions were voted top club in their county again and received a cheque for €2,000 along with 31 other clubs from around the country.
Each club will now go on to contest the bigger provincial prize where €5,000 will be up for grabs with the overall winners set for a €10,000 cash boost.
GAA President Sean Kelly said: "The club is without doubt the most important unit of the Association.
"The players who will grace Croke Park throughout the summer all began at club level and it is a testament to the strength and purpose of our clubs that they continue to provide playing, social and coaching facilities that are the envy of so many other organisations."
