Local residents oppose more events for Croke Park
The Croke Park Area Residents' Alliance (CPARA), an umbrella organisation of seven residents’ and tenants’ associations representing those who live near the GAA headquarters, is concerned at the mounting pressure on the GAA to open Croke Park for soccer and rugby matches.
The Alliance says that more events there would add further disruption to the quality of life of local residents and tenants.
Patrick Gates, secretary of the Alliance said: "It is incredible to hear all the different people calling for the opening up of Croke Park, without any regard of the consequences it would have for the local community.
“The Alliance has been working with the Croke Park authorities in an attempt to get them to put measures in place to minimise the disruption of games at Croke Park.
“To date, Croke Park has shown no willingness to do this in any meaningful way".
