Kilkenny secretary hits out at Cummins selection
Kilkenny secretary Pat Dunphy has taken a sideswipe at the All-star selection committee and charged that Brendan Cummins got the nod ahead of James McGarry because he is more media friendly.
McGarry rarely gives interviews and Dunphy alleged that it has been a significant factor in the players' failure to be awarded an All-star in each of the last two All-Ireland winning years as well as 2000.
Dunphy stated: "What does James have to do to get one of these awards? It seems to me that if you give interviews to journalists, dive all around your goal area and let in plenty of goals you are guaranteed an award.”
