GAC uphold Marsden’s ban
Armagh forward Diarmuid Marsden will miss next year’s Ulster championship opener against Monaghan after his All-Ireland final red card was upheld by the GAC at Croke Park last night.
Marsden was controversially sent off by referee Brian White during the all-Ulster final in September after an altercation with Tyrone defender Philip Jordan, who appeared to charge into Marsden.
The full forward was accompanied to the meeting by Armagh boss Joe Kernan and county board secretary Patrick Nugent.
A GAC statement said: "Following full consultation of all evidence available including video footage of the incident, it was decided by the GAC that the penalty imposed must stand.
