Mayo ladies in line for punishment
The victorious Mayo ladies football team are in line for severe punishment after ignoring an official directive and wearing Azzuri gear during Sunday's All-Ireland final defeat of Dublin.
Mayo's individual contract with Azzuri meant a clash with the ladies association who have a general contract for all county teams with O'Neills and Mayo chose to go with their own contract.
Ladies chief Geraldine Giles said: “The matter will be dealt with severely by Central Council. I don't think we'll be going down the road of taking back the trophy as the competition is now over but they broke the rules."
