Canavan boost for Tyrone

Tyrone full-forward and talisman attacker Peter Canavan sought immediate physio after suffering ankle ligament damage in the All-Ireland semi-final win over Kerry and may yet make the final.

Respected RTE journalist Brian Carthy put Canavan in touch with highly regarded physio Alan Kelly and the future is already looking bright for Errigal Chiarain star Canavan.

Boss Mickey Harte said: "It is quite severely damaged but they reckon he can recover within the time. He will be in a cast for seven days. The cast will immobilise his ankle and ensure the injury isn't aggravated.

"Those who know about these things are hopeful that he will be back in time for the final. We would put our faith in the experts and they are telling us that it is possible to get him right."
