Dublin midfield colossus Ciaran Whelan has put club ahead of country by opting out of the upcoming International Rules tour in Australia.

Ireland take on their Australian counterparts at the Subiaco Bowl in Perth and the MCG in Melbourne in a two-test campaign in October but boss John O'Keeffe must do without the Raheny giant.
