Paddy Power respond to GPA comments

The bookmakers firm at the centre of the "branded hurleys" row has been criticised of opportunism by the Gaelic Players Association.

GPA chief Dessie Farrell has accused Paddy Power of "taking advantage of gifted amateur players who deserve better".

The bookies, replied by saying: "Paddy Power did this deal directly with the players, not with the GPA.

"Since the GPA's inception, Paddy Power have never been contacted by them with regard to any sort of player sponsorship deal, despite Paddy Power's prominence in sports sponsorship and advertising in Ireland."
