Roscommon deal championship blow to Cork

Roscommon 0-14 Cork 1-10

Cork’s Championship challenge was dealt a fatal blow today as brave Roscommon edged out the rebels in a thrilling All-Ireland qualifying clash.

Big-hitting Cork packed a real punch in all the wrong areas, and star duo Colin Corkery and Brendan Jer O’Sullivan were both sent off in shame for striking.

In contrast, Roscommon were disciplined, calm and patient throughout.

They deservedly led 0-10 to 0-5 at the break, but it was in the second half when things really got tasty.

Frankie Dolan, 0-6 for the day, Gary Cox and Gerry Lohan put Roscommon into a late lead, but still Cork came back and an Eoin Sexton goal left nothing in it with moments to go.

But Dolan had the last laugh with an injury time point to seal it.
