Derry do it the hard way
Derry 3-10 Wexford 0-9
Derry for lengthy periods looked like pressing the self-destruct button before they eventually saw off Wexford in their All-Ireland senior football championship qualifier at Wexford Park.
Wexford led 0-6 to 0-3 approaching the interval, but opportunist goals from Anthony Tohill and Dermot Dougan gave Derry a rather flattering 2-3 to 0-6 interval lead.
But Wexford can have few complaints as Derry took control in the second half.
Derry were leading 2-8 to 0-9 when Wexford wing-back David Murphy was red carded for a second bookable offence with twelve minutes remaining.
The visitors put their numerical advantage to full affect as they finished with a flourish of scores.
