Morris fails to reverse red card decision

Wexford have failed in their bid to have Colm Morris available for Sunday’s Leinster senior football championship opener with Laois in Croke Park.

Morris was sent off on a straight red card in their Division 2 league semi-final clash with Limerick.

Following what has been a mixed week for the Wexford backroom team they have failed to have the Castletown defender available.

County Board Officers have been informed by the GAC that the right corner-back has no case and must serve out his one month ban.

Wexford delayed announcing their team, but following the Croke Park communication they have decided on their formation.

They are handing championship debuts to David Fogarty and Paddy Colfer in attack, while Paraic Curtis will be starting his first full championship game.

A startling omission from the side is wing-back Rory Mallon. The dual star has been outstanding right through the league campaign but has not found a place in the starting line-up.

Wexford SF v Laois: J. Cooper, R. Mageean, P. Wallace, N. Murphy, P. Curtis, D. Murphy, D. Breen, W. Carley (captain), R. Stafford, D. Fogarty, L. O’Brien, M. Forde, S. Doran, P. Colfer, J. Hegarty.
