Laois too strong for Derry

The deciding moment in theis game came just 10 minutes in when a long ball from midfield landed in the goalmouth and was batted to the net by Brian McCormack.

Laois then went on to lead by 1-10 to 0-2 at half-time.

Midway through the second half Laois midfielder James Young, who finished with 0-7, had a penalty brilliantly saved by Emmet McKeever.

However, despite four long-range points by Dominic McGill, Laois held on to win by a comfortable eight points.
