Fermanagh hold out against Sligo

Fermanagh 1-10 Sligo 0-11

Late second half points from Raymond Gallagher and Tom Brewster, his sixth of the game, ensured Fermanagh defeated Sligo by two points, 1-10 to 0-11, at Markievicz Park.

Sligo, who have now lost five of their six Div 1B games, had wing forward Sean Davey red-carded in the 29th minute of the second half.

But Dessie Sloyan's fourth converted free levelled matters in stoppage time, 0-11 to 1-8 only for the visitors to secure victory with those two late scores.

Prior to Gallagher's lead point, the Ulster county had genuine penalty appeals when Ciaran Donnelly seemed to be impeded in the Sligo goalmouth.

It was Donnelly's goal in stoppage time at the end of the first half which helped Fermanagh lead by two points at the interval, 1-5 to 0-6.

Fermanagh's first half cause was maintained by the accuracy of freetaker Tom Brewster, who kicked four excellent points in the first period.

Sligo had the brighter start and scored three unanswered points by the 11th minute - the best of these an Eamon O'Hara effort following Brendan Phillips forward raid.
