Tipp extend lead with Derry win

Derry 2-14 Tipperary 4-19

As expected Tipperary extended their lead at the top of Division 1B of the National Hurling League with a comfortable 4-19 to 2-14 win over bottom team Derry at Dungiven.

A goal in the 7th minute from Eugene O'Neill and another from an Eoin Kelly free saw Tipp go to the dressing room 2-8 to 0-7 ahead.

However, Derry, fresh from their routing against Cork, kept in touch, mainly through scores from Ollie Collins.

Tipperary, minus six of their regulars, edged away in the second half, with goals from Liam Cahill and another from O'Neill.

The Premier County remain unbeaten and the Northern minnows are set for the relegation play-offs.
