Offaly win takes them to joint first on table
Offaly 2-17 Cork 1-17
Lively Offaly moved to joint top of the NHL Div 1B table with a gutsy win over Cork at St Brendan's Park, Birr.
Minus their considerable All Ireland winning Birr contingent, Offaly led for almost the entire game and hit the interval with a 0-12 to 0-08 lead.
Corner forward Damien Murray was the star of the game for Offaly and clocked up 1-05, his second-half goal swinging the game.
There was a moment of reprieve for Cork mid-way through the second-half, but late scores from Michael Cordial, a Brian Carroll goal and points from Colm Cassidy and Brendan Murphy sealed a deserved win.
