Taoiseach lauds outgoing president
An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has praised outgoing GAA president Sean McCague, insisting the abolition of Rule 21 was a massive step forward.
Monaghan man McCague presided over the rule change which lifted the longstanding ban on British army and police members from joining the association.
Mr Ahern said: "Sean initiated and managed the process which led to the removal of the rule. It was not an initiative that could have been done at other times."
