Clare gain revenge with win over Tipp

Clare 1-12 Tipperary 1-6

Clare gained revenge for their defeat at the hands of Tipperary in the McGrath Cup last weekend by scoring a comprehensive victory over their Premier County rivals at Ardfinnan in the opening round of the NFL.

Having played with the aid of the breeze in the first half the Banner men led by 0-10 to 1-3. Tipperary were happy enough at the interval and it looked as though they were in the perfect position to claim victory in the second half.

However Clare showed great resoluteness, particularly in defence and a Stephen Hickey goal helped to stave off the Tipperary challenge.

They ran out deserving six point winners.
