Tipperary 1-09, Clare 1-08 (after extra-time)

Tipperary footballers claimed their first McGrath Cup senior football title in 10 years at wet and windy Miltown Malbay when they rallied hard to force extra-time and then overtook the Claremen in the added period.

Trailing by 0-05 to 0-02 at the interval Tipp introduced former Allstar Declan Browne and he kicked three points in the second-half to help them along the way.

A Martin Daly goal for Clare in the 22nd minute seemed to be enough to give Clare the win but a last-gasp effort form Tipp midfidler Aidan Fitzgerald saw him punch the ball to the net for an injury-itme equaliser.

In extra-time, Tipperary's fitness told and points from Benny Hickey (2) and Tony Doyle gave them a deserved one-point victory.

Clare will rue the missed chances - they kicked 14 wides in the game.
