O'Dwyer retires from Kildare

Kildare forward Karl O'Dwyer has retired from inter-county football, according to sources close to the player.

Allstar O'Dwyer had four largely successful seasons at Kildare under father and manager Mick O'Dwyer following an inter-county transfer from his native Kerry.

But a senior Kildare player admitted: "He (Karl) had a bad year with injuries last season and we were informed at training that he wouldn't be coming back."
