Carey in line to equal All-Star record

Kilkenny forward DJ Carey will make history tonight if he wins his ninth hurling All-Star award.

The Gowran legend, who returned from a career-threatening injury to spearhead Kilkenny's successful All-Ireland campaign, will equal Pat Spillane's record if he is included in this year's All-Star team.

The line-up is due to be announced tonight at a gala banquet in Dublin.

The football All-Stars were announced yesterday, with All-Ireland champions Armagh securing six awards.
